    Question eg horn from scratch?

not sure if this is the right spot but anyway here i go..
ok so got a gli eg hatch, had airbags, got a diff steering wheel for it and when u pull the wheel off that lil black bit with the srs module thingy on it comes off too to put on the sass steering wheel but issue is is that the horn is connected to that srs module so i have nothing to hook the steering wheel connection to, so anyone have any ideas how to hook up a horn from scratch so i have one?????
    thanks

i've seen a write up on a US forum somewhere coz i had the same issue when installing my Sparco wheel... you need to get a little hook/pin from an earlier model ('88 - '90) CRX or Civic, its copper and connects to the power wire for the horn, i think it's blue with red stripe??? and the pin makes constant contact with the brass circle at the bottom of the boss kit...

try googling it, coz it's hard to explain without pictures, but i managed to obtain the copper contact pin from a Honda wrecker for free... alternatively you can use a paperclip, which is what i used temporarily till getting the actual proper pin. The '88 - '91 Civic/CRX pins fit straight on...

sorry if it's a little hard to follow, just quoting from what i remember when i was doing it, took me a while to google for it on another forum coz most people go without the horn, but when you do find the write up you'll know what i mean... =D

from memory, the wire in the steering wheel is a ground wire (-ve), once it touches any part of the steering column you horn should beep. It should be connected to somewhere to the horn button so when you press it, it will make contact with the steering column or the metal parts to complete the circuit so your horn will beep. post a pic of your steering wheel if you can.

Just so you know, removing an Airbag from an air-bag equipped vehicle is illegal in most states. vehicles complianced after 1995 should have Drivers SRS and technically you're not meant to remove it. or at least replace it with another airbag equipped wheel (ITR for example).. but hey heaps of people do it.. but just so you know incase you have to take your car over the PITS.
