    USB devices question

    hello,

i asked this original question in the new honda city thread but didnt get an answer, so i will post it here with the hope maybe someone with general knowledge about these USB connections could help.

    here is my question.

i want to know if cars which have USB/Ipod connectivity (using the stock HU) can simply plug and play my seagate freeagent go (2.5inch/250gb) portable HDD? will the head unit will be able to power my HDD and read my folders and music?

or am i going to have to stick with USB sticks?

    thanks

although im not 100% certain, i would imagine it would because it would scan the USB device for playable files, mp3's, avi's and so forth and would simply ignore/not be able to play any other documents u may have on it

Most new releases will play mp3 files off portable 2.5" HDD's and will power them easily. If they run USB 2.0 then it should be fine (unsure about the city but I think it would).

In any case why don't you just whip out your HDD and test it? Can't hurt - let us know how it goes.
