Nope, because the battery indicator will flash when the battery is really really dead. You might have a battery that is halfway there. If you are able to swap batteries with someone else to test, that would be a cheap way to find out if this is causing the flashing SRS problem. I doubt it is a problem with the airbag system itself because the light goes off and doesn't stay on.
