Whilst it isnt required, if you are going to set them up properly and make them as tunable/useable as possible then having a proper vacuum system set-up with an idle speed motor is the way to go.
Might be just me, i like doing things properly and having my itbs and engines finer features work just as good as stock
There's a few ways of doing it,
No vaccum or idle speed motor works,
No vacuum + idle speed motor works
& Vacuum + idle speed motor works.
All are correct & can be made to work & work really well.
FWIW, normally ITB's are TPS mapped... They can be tuned using MAP sensor.
But, to be frank. This is troublesome at best due to lack of resolution @ wider throttle openings.
For the the best of both worlds you use secondary tables. The idle & cruise tuning can be done using MAP sensor mapping & more than say 15~25% throttle swapping to TPS mapping.
Either way it's upto your tuner how to do it, based on the ECU available.
Ideally you'd want to have an ECU that can be configured to run on TPS.
ECU's that don't offer this ability can be the source of much greif.

If you remove the vacuum block, how do you source vacuum for the brake booster? Can you get enough vacuum directly from one of the intake runners for that purpose? Having motec m400 installed this week, it would be neater if they can remove the vacuum block since they will be tuning with TPS. The ECU allows for cold start and idle-up etc. as far as i know.
It's not just the ECU you need to control the idle, you still need the idle speed motor to physically control the intake of air on idle.
Like I told you bro, you need a special vaccum box (which looks like you already have) that will allow the idle speed motor to let air in as the ECU tells it too.
Thanks bro, had a chat to my tuner he'll see whether the vacuum box is doing anything at all. Maybe it's hooked up wrong? We' ok find out tomorrow then...
