yea, im gettin an axel back too, and maybe get a straight pipe made in stainless steel later on if im getting exhaust manifold, cheaper than gettin a whole catback system.

    Hey guys,

Been reading some of your post and i'm getting a little discouraged in upgrading my Civic Sport.

Initially my plan was to uggrade intake > exaust > headers, or all at the same time, but from reading the posts, if I'm only going to gain about 5 or 10hp is there a point? What sort of cost am i looking at to get it all done, can someone point out some sites i can do research on? I keep getting Yankie sites with their mods and bits.

tbh with you its a waste of money, unless you really desire and must have it.

if you really wanted to be quicker.. you'd be looking to get flywheel, clutch & final drive.. and i dont know if most of them are possible yet for fd..
Re the flywheel etc, what sort of gains at best would an FD2 be looking at? (purely curious as i have a sports auto).

Sorry for short answer but i'm on my phone. Basically ihe is all sound, but don't get me wrong there are gain's to be made in those region's, with the correct setup and tune.. But for a manual car, if you upgrade clutch etc, then your shift time's and such will be reduced since there is less lag and hence reach higher speed's faster.. But doing the normal ihe upgrade is what normal people do anyhow, unless your uber serious about racing your car.. Like i know i'll be doing my zorst cos i only want cosmetic upgrade's for my fd.

Well if you get exhaust, intake and headers you'll be looking at around 10kw+ ATW and tahts pretty decent...

Exhaust depends if u want a catback which would put u back a few hundred or full exhaust which would cost anything from about a grand upwards. Keep in mind that a catback would not give you any performance gain (its so little its basically nothing) only sound whilst the full exhaust would.

Intake would be around $400-$500 for a branded one or you could grab a generic one off ebay for like $100-$200.

Headers there arn't many that are out yet although there are a few. That'll probably cost about $300-$400 (Not sure of the current pricing).

If you have a auto car, i wouldn't recommend upgrading your flywheel as it wouldn't be needed as much.

Check the trader section here at Ozhonda as they have quite a few products for the FD1/2. JDMYard is great for a start.

    Cool, much appreciated info guys!

I know what you mean about not being many headers out there yet, however i did stumble on some threads from US honda forums. They have diff models there, so probably not relevant. None of their stuff would apply here, would it?

Hmmm, am considering at throwing approx $2k for the I/H/E upgrades. Dunno. $2k for a 10kw gain. Hmmm. Would i need to make any changes to the ECU? For that sort of money, wouldn't going turbo be more worthwhile?

If i do any mods to the exhaust, i'll get a dyno of before and after and post it up here.

Turbo would cost approx $6k possibly more because of the exchange rate atm i'd assume...

You'll need a turbo back exhaust which would be just under a grand for a custom one, intercooler (few hundred), piping, new ECU (about a grand for a standalone not piggie back), the actual turbo (price varies depending on which one) and there is definately much more stuff in there but i can't think of them atm. (currently at work =[) There is also labour to be considered which could range significantly.

If you want to spend 2k, I would put the money in getting a intake first, then coilovers, then some decent rims and tyres (unless you like the current wheels thats up to you).
Thats just IMO but the choice is up to you
