Sorry to revive my old thread, I just wanted to find out whether or not the chrome on the hood trim is painted, and can be sanded off?

I'm thinking about sanding it off and attempting to colour match it with paint mixed from a spare parts store or something (according to the arctic blue colour code).

Got the idea from this guy at tsxclub:

    so simple!

    Easily done, right?

I'm thinking the paint won't stick, and it'll chip too easily. Don't want to waste my time.

Its something like A$150 from boomplustoys now because of the crap dollar. If there's anywhere else i can get it cheaper, let me know! Otherwise, painting would be like 1/3 the price.

well on most cases that the paint will chipped that if somebody scratch it or from stone chips. so if you do it right in the 1st place by using the correct paint and techniques it wouldnt chip off easily. by all means i would give DIY job a go

    I got mine painted over.
Sticks fine, as long as it's been cleaned & primed properly.
