I just looked back at this thread for the first time in ages. i LOLed at that. The rims are fine - not a mark

Anyway, decided to make a REAL improvement to the hood trim.
I'm gonna go ahead and share what I did cause of boredom. Don't take this crappy fix seriously as it's quite dodgy.

To overcome the 'reverting to stock' dilemma, I decided to spray straight over the black tape I used. I can hear everyone saying "wtfmanlulzwtf it wont stickz", but whatever. If it starts to chip or peel, I'll just redo it!

The original 'out of place' black taped trim:

Took it off the car, and decided to construct an overdone spraying area in the backyard pagola from about a billion pieces of old newspaper:

    Fail at timesaving.

    Here it is.

To stop unnecessary overspraying, I taped over the back of the thing with masking tape to protect the attaching points of the thing to the thing.

Because I was spraying on plastic tape, I wasn't really sure whether to sand and prime it. Being the noob that I am, I went ahead and did it anyway

After 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of paint (mixed at Autobahn in an aerosol spraycan) and a couple of coats of clearcoat (with random sanding inbetween) I was left with this:

This is the result after putting it back onto the car:

    Much better.

Edit: Yes, after looking at that post again, I realise the car needs a wash. Bad.

euromandeluxe - wtfmanlulzwtf it wont stickz!!!

nice man makes the car look finished.
btw as long as you prime it, it should be fine.
The only problem is if you use paint on tape or vinyl because of thinners in the paint it can shrivel it to cause bubbling effect.

    LOL 5am post ftw.

Cheers guys, hopefully the chippage isn't too bad. The finish isn't as perfectly smooth as the paint finish on the hood of the car - it's only noticable from really close. I tried sanding back the clearcoat with 1200 grit but it ends up looking scratched which is f***ed up. I'll just leave it for now, noone will notice (except random Ozhonda members LOL).

Looks so much better - she doesn't have a moustache anymore =)

    Do you mean these things:

They were on the car when we bought it. I think the previous owner imported them from... somewhere?

Dunno, but I like them. Too low to have any functional use though lol
