    breather filters legal?

if i were to fit a breather filter on my rocker cover would this be considered legal (emissions)? or do i need that hose from the rocker to the intake arm to be connected?

You need a hose from the rocker cover to the intake arm to be legal. Depends a lot on the cop who is inspecting your car as well.

Would it make a difference? (A hose as opposed to a breathing filter)

When I got defected I was told that it's a fire hazard and that it increases induction noise ( in theory anyway,) therefore illegal.

I doubt in practice it makes that much difference.

But yeah really depends on the cop.

with a breather the engine vents oil fumes, the intake arm, the intake actually breathes in the oil so that it doesn't vent. Its prob just as bad cos your engine actually burns it.

THe best way is a catch can, but you can get defected for it like i was once. The catch can stores the oil so you don't vent or burn oil. Its a stupid rule that you can't have a catch can system, without getting it engineered, stupid cops.

just shows how bright cops can be. A pod filter would increase induction noise but a breather don't make noise

Having the tube between the rocker cover and the intake arm doesn't send much oil into the combustion chamber. You get more oil from the PCV to the intake manifold, and that is where your oil catch can should be placed, not between the rocker cover and intake arm.

Yes it is illegal. Must be a closed system to be legal.
