[DIY] How To Turn Off The Airbag Light For After Market Bucket Seats.

Disclaimer: The following is provided as a GUIDE ONLY, and neither myself nor Ozhonda take any responsibility for the outcomes of someone else doing the following. You follow these steps at your own risk!

Aim: To turn off the side airbag light for those who have an after market seat(s).

    Required:
    • A 5W2.2Ω resistor.
    • Electrical Tape

    Method:

    1. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. Highly recommended as you never know what can or will go wrong. You are also playing with the airbag system.
    2. Locate the airbag plug, should be simple enough to find. Its a two pin plug, the other three pin plug is for your seatbelt.
    3. Get the resistor, and plug one end into one side, and the other end onto the other side. Just to be safe, cover the exposed wire of the resistor with electrical tape separately.
    4. Tuck the wiring under your seat to prevent it from being damaged.
    5. Reconnect the negative terminal and the airbag light should disappear.

Note: Seatbelt light was on because I obviously didn't have my seat belt on!

This was done on a 2007 Honda Accord VTI. I know it will also work on an Honda Accord Euro, but other than that I am not entirely sure. For other vehicles the process is the same, but I would assume the resistor to be of a difference. Although for the new Honda's I am sure it is a 5.5W2.2Ω resistor.

If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a pm or just leave a comment. For those those who think I can improve anywhere, let me know and I'll update the post. Also if you have used my guide, please tell me so i can make a list of what cars it has worked on.

I also did this guide a few weeks after I installed the seat, so the airbag light was on for a while. When i found the resistor, I just plugged it in, and the light turned off. No airbag reset had to be done.

    Thanks.
