Sorry to bring up an old thread.

I am thinking of getting a motorcycles license sometime in the next couple of months.

I want to find out what are a few options for a good beginner bike which isn't punching a hole in my pocket.

As i've read that you guys think that 250's are not worth it due to inflated prices cause of the LAMS sh1t, but the least i've seen for these sort of bikes with decent used mileage are around the $7k mark.

Purpose is to use it for a daily to work and uni then back home once i move out to the west. Travel would be around 45mins to the city or so.

You reckon i should go for a CBR250R or VRF400? Hyosung GT250R? Any others?
Pros/Cons on the bikes you suggest please, year, make/model and price range its approx.

Can you also suggest some good 2nd hand or private sites which have cheaper prices cause i can't seem to find any.

Also how much normally to get it "ON ROAD"?

    Your opinions please. Thanks
    Darren

cbr seems to be the most "bang for your buck" as a pakage of reliability power and looks . there also easy to find and heaps on the market to.

any sites you can refer me to?

So i've heard they are bang for buck but not having much luck searching hahahaha

i know with cbr250rr looking around online i only can seem to find older models mainly 1989-early 90's models and they are going for $5.5k +.

With hyosung gt250R can get it merely under 5k brand new almost.

personaly i woodent buy a hyosung AT all even though there cheap as chips , there is a reason for the low cost. consider as ninja zxr? they have a good rep for 250's although personaly 250s are way overpriced in my opinion . goodluck searching!

you reckon i should just jump straight into a 400 then?
thanks for the link and help.

yeh i know, i am not too fond of korean cars either.....and power wise it's sh1t as ....

If it comes down to a 250, i would be considering a CBR250RR and kawasaki ninja 250R.

LAMs is bit of a joke if you ask me, most cops don't even know and/or care about it from what I've heard.

But then & again, I guess it's only a matter of time till they have a smack down on it.

    Hyosung bikes fall apart....

CBR250RR are a good bike but take into consideration its roughly a 15yo bike so many out there would have been in accos. Make sure you dont buy a bent one.

Another option is the Kawasaiki Ninja which is about 7-7.5k new, but that thing has a shitty riding position and exhaust note imo...
