    Driving with the handbrake on

    Hi guys,
    short and simple
    my sis just drove a good 20+ kms home with the handbrake on
    are we fked?

    it wasnt all the way up. you'd know if it was. it'd probably wheelspin before it moved if it was all the way up.

    its quite noticable with the handbrake on (creaking/hard to accelerate)...especially on the swift, since my ex had the same car before...slow as hell...how fast was she going?

    Didnt she smell a burning smell from the tyres???

    How hard was the hand brake on? obvisious the higher you pulled the hand brake up, the more likely you have premature brake pad wear, possibly stretching hand brake cables. You should test your handbrake with the car on the hill now to be safe that the handbrakes hold up with the car stationary on a hill. lol

    Didnt she notice the handbrake light on the dash? unless it has been disconnected in which you can check if you remove the console thats between both front seats that surrounds the handbrake

    i dont think she sent over 80
    but when she got home i could smell like burning rubber/plastic coming from the car

    prob wasnt smashed all the way up.. maybe she didnt let it off fully? It won't be that bad.. maybe just worn it down heaps

    Even if you didnt go past 80 there probably would be premature brake pad wear. Check for any bold spots on the tyre also.

    You got drums or rear disc brakes?

    Wait for Aarong to say something about this.

    take a wheel off, and check the pads.. you prolly worn the pads a fair bit .. if its 20km+...
    I MISS VTEC.... BOOST is OVERATED lol
