    Lightbulb Alpine or JL Subs?

    Heya guys
Well i'm going to buy a sub soon and i was wondering what you guys think ..

    I have only 2 in mind ..
    12" Alpine Type R
    or 12" w3v2 JL's

Which one would give out smoother but at the same time loud bass ~

If you guys got other models or anything feel free to post

    Thanks in advance..

dude type r's take big power to move them properly... i did a bit of a shootout between my mates jl and my type s

    both 10" in his car

we figured that the type s picked up low frequencies better than the jl but in conclusion both were pretty level awesome subs.

ive always been a fan of both too!

    hope that helps?

You would be amased at how much goes into box design and how well its matched to the sub. i started with a fusion system that cost me $700 for 2 15's and i ended up at 145db with 1000watts. dont knock stuff you know nothing about mate fusion make some awesome gear nowdays.

depending on ur budget and if ur SQ or SPL enthusiast.. either one will work well... perhaps a single 12... can even do the trick..

Does the choice have to be limited to those two? There are plenty of other brands I would suggest even above them. Eg:

    Image Dynamics

    RE Audio
    www.reaudio.com.au

    Diamond
    www.diamondaudio.com

    Phoenix Gold

    Digital Designs

    Boston Acoustics

    Vibe

    Focal

    Etc

you comparing a JL sub to an Alpine sub?.. Alpine make good HU's right?.. i'm guessing that is where majority of their profit goes right?.. ok so they are "well known" in car audio; even sumppl say they are the leaders of car audio.. but when comparing JL Audio to Alpine in subs, its kinda hard.. JL Audio only make Subs, Speakers and Amplifiers.. so they obviously concentrate on making their specific products.. have you heard the JL 12W3??... and you compared it to a Type R??.. yeh the type R is a good sub but when looking at the price u paying, i would think you could get something obviously betta for the price.. you are just paying for the brand: ALPINE..

oh another thing.. see if u can check out the subs on their own separately.. look @ the difference in quality btw they're built.... but its only my opinion
