i was checking out that 8thcivic.com forum and some1 removed the intake resonator box and customised their intake from this

    to this

the guy who did it said it "helped out the dbw lag and felt a tiny bit faster"

wonder whats the whole point in having an intake resonator box.. does it provide cleaner air? create some kind of air pressure?

has anyone tried to do this? not sure if it looks secure and how it would affect engine responsiveness.

Aah the sounds hardly noticable.... so i dont think the resonator's purpose is sound muffling.. although it is a 'resonator'...

someone on 8thgen also just took out the whole piping lol, so right where the airbox is inside the engine bay (where the air filter is) theres just an open gap to where the pipe would be.. apparantly that sounds a lot meaner.

hahah yeah. i think i might just get rid of the resonator box cos its a bitch when i wanna change foglights LOL.

btw.. any of u guys figured out how to change foglights with the mugen front kit on? cos i cant pul the black covering out, last time i had to remove the bumper a bit with a mate, but i really don't wanna do that again lol... and the resonator box is in the road so can't get to it from underneath on the passenger side...

Haven't done it yet with the FD but have done it on my previous car EK & before that the EG. Engine sounds meaner, not sure about the gains but it sounds faster I wouldn't do it on my FD as I'm pretty sure the engine warranty might get voided if the dealer sees what I've done when I take it for its service.
