Honda Head Unit
hey guys, just wondering if anyone can confirm that in order to install an after market Head Unit, i have to remove the console, is that correct? So it's not a matter of removing the plastic bezel around the current unit? it's a 2000 CXi, thanks in advance

you dont remove the black plastic surround with controls at all to change the headunit. you have to take off pretty much the whole bottom plastic trim. passenger/driver bottom trim, centre console, after removing it all you'll see how its mounted.

You don't need the metal bracket. The head unit should come with a little rubber, to go with a screw. Then the screw goes to the back of the new head unit.

can you explain further? because the back plate gets bolted onto the chassis, what role would that little bolt do?

one more question guys, i seem to have 2 extra cables, one being red with black stripe and the other being yellow with black stripe, anyone know what this is? on the install sheet, it didn't have these two cables

Mounting most aftermarket headunits use the Universal Din Cage which looks like this:

You put this into the slot, and bend some of the metal tabs in place behind your dash bezel so you get a solid mounting point.
