you mention you don't want a stiff ride.. lowered springs greater then 1.5" on a stock shocks gives you a bouncy ride.. your not making sense dude. i'd rather have a "stiffer" ride and be in control of my car, then to have non captive springs and be bouncing out of control around a corner. your better off to pay that little extra, besides your car is detectable with lowered springs that aren't captive and its considered dangerous, where as coil overs are acceptable.

lowered springs will do the job. but like you said.. "it will only last you a certain amount of time".. there is no set time limit and there is always the possibility they will blow straight away. either way i dont see the point in short term fix's.. each to their own, im only giving you my 2c.

and no. if you get a set of lowered springs.. its not guaranteed to find a shock to suit that specific lowered spring, although there are some exceptions.

i dunno how much you research your stuff before you do stuff to your car like lowering it etc.. but a coilover's diameter of the shock is way smaller then the stock shock, when lowering your car the offset and width of the wheels play an important roll in determining weither its going to work or not.. lowered spring may give you that lowered look but did you consider where your wheel is going to end up in relation to the chassis.. just remember springs cant be adjusted and if you chop them then you an idiot.

i dont mean to be rude but look where you ended up with your rims.. your real keen to sell up cos im guessing you didnt consider that type of stuff.

up to you in the end..

all im trying to say is your better off to spend that little extra to save the heart break that you WILL get from the short term fix.
doing it first time correctly is gonna save ou plenty of money in the long run. thats all im gonna say.

    agreed with dez and ej20

its better off getting the entire suspension setup rather than the springs since they may not necessary match the dampers... each decent coilover would have the springs matched to the damper setting of the shocks (thus you pay for the R&D that goes into these setups)

and srzly, better save up for a coilover setup and it would give you benefits and save you alot of trouble later on down the track

and also aero, a coilover setup doesnt necessarily mean that you're going for a performance beast.. after some research and you could find a reasonable price suspension that gives a really comfortable ride as well as lower the car superlow and give great street performance.. like the tanabe sustec pro-nf.. hehehe

but lets say black8thgen's situation. he was considering skunk2 springs and they also do happen to do shocks for the FDs. you can get both for your car for cheaper than a good quality and well known brand of coilover and they will do a good job with his stock sport wheels.

like most ppl in here, im a student and dont have much of an income (especially with also having a girlfriend.. lol). it may be short-term, but i'd have the confidence to have enough money to get better suspension later on, after uni.

    touche' on that one .
at the time i purchased the wheels i also had enough money in my bank account to camber them and lower the ride. but due to circumstances, i had to give most of that money to my parents..

    lesson learnt.

hmm i heard about skunk2 springs being suited with OEM shocks but are the stock shocks ideal in being lowered?? maybe to a certain amount

i'm have an Injen SRI on my sport, same problem here at the beginning, though it is because of sucking up too much hot air. taken to honda and they told me to try to reinstall the intake and make sure connections between manfold and the filter are very tight no gaps at all (screw the metal things as hard as i can, not breaking it ofcause) and seal the connections with tapes (<-which i havnt, sounds not making sense). then i reset the ECU by removing the batt and fuse. guese wt, the light never on again.
thats my experience, hope its help.

Gonna try that as soon as I'm home. Umm, ask nny911 about his springs. He's having a mad fun time in his car after lowered with pedders springs only. I drove it, omg. It's disgusting. My hack hurts and bounces eveywhere. Can't have drinks in the car for sure. It's funny. Feels like hydrolics. Hahahahha
