EK Civic Dipstick broken - not happy!

This is the first time I've checked my oil after getting my car back from what seems to be a well respected performance automotive workshop and the dipstick broke! And on closer inspection if looks as though someone has attempted to glue it already!!! I've emailed to workshop to see what they say however I don't expect they will admit it, so now I have the bottom half of the dipstick stuck and cannot get it out.

First thing I will try is a drop of glue to restick it, and hope it will hold well enough to pull it out. Otherwise what do you suggest? Its a bit tricky to grab whats left in there, I was wondering if screwing one of those screw remover things into the plastic will hold enough for me to pull it out??? Only concern is that the plastic will shatter rather than be screwed into and I'll be even more stuffed.

thin magnet on a bit of hanger, could work?

use a pair of needle plyers(i think this is what there called?) to get it out

its kinda like a plucker except significantly bigger,
get a new dipstick from a wreck

if its only broken at the top try srewing in a self tapper screw and then pull it out

Magnet wouldn't work because the top of whats left inside is the plastic part.

Tried needle nose pliers, not enough room to grab, and in trying to do so pushed it further down!

The workshop denied having done it, of course, however he did extract it for me. he drilled into the plastic, then carefully screwed in one of those screw removers into it and carefully pulled it out. Phew, there was pretty much no other way it would have come out.

Needless to say I also noticed the other day that the power steering reservoir was just sitting and not slid back in its bracket, and one of the spark plug leads was not pushed on properly. Although it seemed to be running OK, albeit it seems a bit noisy since they did the work (which was replace water pump, timing belt). Not sure why. This is all AFTER they had to redo the pump a second time as it was still leaking after the first attempt.

Somehow I don't think I'll be going back there. Where the hell do you find a good mechanic??????? These guys are well known japanese performance specialists.

At least for the time being all is OK.

you need to find a mechanic that would take care of your car as if it was his own car.
