ED6 The Saga Continues

Hi All,

The following is a little scary, but I only have Shogun to blame,

I recently put my ED6 run-around project up for sale as it got to a point where I went nuts, an EG Auto box with D15B7 wont fit, the gearbox is bigger than the ED box, and it looked like I would need to cut into the chassis and bits to make it fit, but Shogun and Peter have convinced me to keep going...

DAMN YOU GUYS

Anyway, here are a few pictures, the last two show what I did tonight when I got home, I pulled the whole lot OUT again, no fun on a slightly sloping driveway by myself.

Hopefully this coming weekend I will get the ED6 auto box from someone and put it all back in, standard mounts again woo!

Then the nightmare of wiring the ECU and stuff up, oh what fun

The last two pictures show the gearbox I have, its labelled S24A, and my original box was marked L24 (from memory)

Poor little car, it's done 285,000Klm's

But this is one of the best looking little hatches Honda have produced..

This shows the auto box hitting the chassis on the drivers side, and its not even in the right position yet

Looking down onto the gearbox, can see how close

Using the original mount, it kinda fits, but not good enough

Engine is in, looks good, shame its not a B16A and 5 speed with LSD (sigh)

Not much space to work on the passenger side, will move the car once the engine
and box are back in and mechanically connected, then its just wiring and tidy up

Look, its flying

Love the interior, int's actually in really good condition, and I have a JDM Double Din stereo with
Cd and Mini-Disc player to be installed once the car is running

Funky flat black blades? will be stripped and made nice and shiny, the car is not EMO

And now because of Shogun, have pulled the whole damn thing back out

The gearbox is marked S24A

She's in Hong Kong with Holly, Thats why I can stuff round on the car, but I still have to do heaps of other crap before they get back, so I need this car on the road by Sept 10

And maybe if that looks do-able, will be selling the DA just before then.

Well, at least the engine and box are back out, with a bit of luck I will have it all back in by Sat night, then the descent into wiring-hell......

Hey man, i dont know how much of a help this may be... But i had the D15b Vtec motor in my ED and it was running the original carby gearbox....

It fit like it would an original motor and gearbox... if your plan doesn't work mabey that could be another option for you to look at???

I am unsure if the D15b vtec gearbox would of fit cuase i bought it like that... But the person that did the swap is on this forum so you may be able to pm him (revjunkie) i believe that is him...

although he may of only bout the motor and not the gearbox aswell... Oh well, good luck with it mate....

The car was a D15B4 with auto when I got it, and I am putting in a D15B7 from a 94 EG.
I do have the original box that came out of the car, but its not happy working on cold mornings, it sticks in 1st gear, and a few mechanics have said it will be way too expensive to fix.
The auto box I was using (and wanted to stay auto as this is a run-around) was from a 94 EG, its definately bigger (hope to have comparison pics by the weekend) and the mounts are all over the place compared to the original box.
Hopefully the gearbox I am getting on the weekend will solve all my issues in 1 go, all standard mounts.
I think a manual swap will have no issues as most of the manual boxes seem to be better off for mounting points, and probably size too.
