    the manufactuer wouldnt set the redline at a point where it is damaging your engine...

    they would set it short of that point... otherwise no cars would come with warranty
    - not removed by choice! - waiting for the next update to the saga

    what problems occur from bouncing off the limiter? it is afterall, just a fuel cutoff BEFORE any major damage occurs from over-revving

    Bouncing on the limiter may mean its actually going slightly above the redline point.

    Down shifting at high rpm can cause the engine to rev well above the redline, and can lead to damage, this will harm your engine more than accelerating and hitting the set limit.

    downshifting to a high RPM is more dangerous than full throttle it to high RPM.
