not many insurance companies here. All the big ones don't cover mods if your under 25. I guess my only choice is Just Car or Famous Motor Insurance
have you tried shannon?

depending what mods you done... if i were you, i rather keep the money inside an account specific for your car need instead of giving them to insurance company.
if you need repairs etc.. just withdraw them. even better the money can grow interest when you put in the bank.
i dont insured my car with just car , shannon etc...for the modified car. i insured with gio for normal car rate. whatever difference if i were to insured them with shannon etc.. i just put in the bank and withdraw them if i need repair.
but this strategy may not work for you if you are quote equally expensive for both normal insurance company and so called for modified insurance company. does this strategy makes sense?
cos at the end of day what i am afraid of is my car get stolen. other than that, i am a careful driver and it work out cheaper than giving my money to insurance company which i almost never make a claim.
my 2 cents

not sure about the engine mods, but i was told that wheels would only void warranty if they requried an engineer's certificate. ie if you went the standard 2 inches up, no problem. Honda hasnt hassled me about it yet...

yeah i understand but my parents still wants me to get an insurance no matter what. they are paying for my insurance though. Parents were saying that if the person that hit u doesn't have insurance and u didn't either it is up to you to chase them and prove that they are wrong. They can easily deny it and then you would have to go through court n stuff, a lot of hassles. If your insure the insurance company will chase after them n u would have to worry about it. The other party can also declare not to pay for the damages and they will just get a fine from the cops or something, not sure on that entirely just what parents said.
Both quote from famous motor insurance and Just car are roughly the same not sure about the excess though.
If you insure your car for normal car rate then in the case of an accident wouldn't u not get anything because u didn't tell them about the added modifications you have put on the car?
If you don't make a claim then you would get the highest no claim bonus of 60% so the premium isn't that much right?

for IVAN
i just fixed my simota air intake...ive been driving for more than a day now and no engine light is on.
what i did was i got a muffler centre to weld a "nipple" on the intake pipe and re-route the vaccum hose to it
i'll show u
and i replace the filter with K&N since the simota is so big it sucks too much air for our fd

i get my car insured with GIO. i told them i have certain things like lowered sussy etc. but as more mods added, like wheels etc, the premium increases, so i decided to insure them as if they were stock
it doesnt mean that i cannot claim on the insurance if something happen. i just dont insure the extra stuff. it just makes the insurance cheaper but i still covered if somone hit me or i hit someone.
my civic on the other hand is different. i only covered to third party only ie i hit someone, insurance pay for the other car and i pay my own repair
cos of insurance of my civic and cu2 is the same. but my civic is old car. so it is not worth it and better of putting the saving on comprehensive for my own repair.
in both instance i still use insurance but just minimise the cost. different level and different strategy.
as i mention this strategy may not work for all people depending on your own factor, element of risk etc and i am a very careful driver.
