    My LS/VTEC build up

Just thought I'd tell you guys about my LS/vtec conversion project.
I've been collecting up the bits and pieces for the last few months now, and soon I'll be ready to do the deed!

I'm doing this to my 89 DA9 LS tegra, as I'm into mods and engineering etc. (want more go LOL).

The engine itself is in good nick, so it'll get new rings, bearings, balance, water pump etc.
Just did the research on the net and this site, pros and cons, and worked out what parts are needed.
Parts I have got so far are:

    GSR head
GSR intake manifold, I removed the dual runner butterflies.
New OBD1 dizzy, my car is OBD0
    OBD 0-1 conversion harness
GSR ecu with Hondata s100 chip
    LS head gasket
braided line and fittings for the vtec oil feed (from pirtek )
    ARP head stud kit B16A
ARP 8mm rod bolts and nuts
    build and tune

Getting a vtec solenoid off ebay as they are rare as hens teeth lol.
Also want to get some second hand pr30 pistons to bump up the comp ratio to roughly 11.5:1 instead of 9.8:1 if I use stock pistons.

I can forsee a clutch upgrade coming too!

Not worried about the cost too much, and yes a B18C would be straight forward.

    good stuff

got any pics of the IAB plate or the inside of the runners at all?

if she throws a CYP fault code, try reversing the orange & white wire on the end of the dizzy plug

Might wanna change your gearbox. Swap in a Short ratio B16 box.
LS gearing is too long. Otherwise looking good.
Never knew you could remove the dual stage thingo in that intake mani.

Yep, just for you lol. But I already reassembled the manifold.

Cool I'll keep that in mind, I do have the colour codes for the connection to the obd0 loom so we'll see if it's good or not.

I thought about the manifold and didn't want the extra stuff so I pulled it apart, cleaned it then reassembled using 26mm shorter bolts, as the butterfly assy is around 26mm thick. It all lines up too.

Also pic of ecu and harness.

Gearboxes, especially VTEC B series are pretty hard to grab lol. I'll try though, as the LS one is shagged anyway. Input shaft bearing, synchros etc all shagged, still works though with 130-140w oil!

ahhh,so thats what those little bastards hiding in my manifold look like........
    thx for the pics
twas me,id prob just ditch the manifold alltogether, but will be interesting experiment none the less.

be careful of the obd0>1 CYP & CKP sensor colour swap, dont know if its the same on the B18A but on the D16A8 it happens & the last conversion harness i dealt with actually accounted for the swap anyway,so maybe check it before u go swapping wires at the dizzy end.
still... the CYP wires on your new dizzy look arse about anyway, but who knows how they wired it internally...

Trying not to go too overboard on a budget car so thats why I'm using what I managed to find. We'll see how she goes on the tune and strip though!

I'll let you know if the wires needed to be swapped or not!
