Its ok, a bit of googling and i came up with this, fully understood now =)
fuse acts like a circuit breaker, just in case there is a surge the power is cut off at the fuse so your accessories remain safe.......pretty much a surge potector



and the most convenient type of fuse to incorporate into the circuit seems to be a fuse holder...just solder it onto the circuit



and if unluckily enough you do get a surge of current, the fuse filament just snaps, easy to replace and cheap as peanuts......less than a dollar supposedly
