Next problem was the gasket I had for the throttlebody, I was not in the mood to have to go back to Supercheap, so grabbed some cardboard and made a gasket for now

    OK, the story so far..

I have had major wiring issues this week (like Peter lol) and thanks to Ben, CRXer, and ECU-Man (and special mention to Pete for letting me come over and browse his document collection) have now finally got the car running, but in doing so found that a litire or 2 of 2Stroke petrol in my tank makes for an amazing smokescreen haha, when i was filling the tank, I used one of my mower gerrycans that had a litre or more of 2stroke mix in it..

I have since drained the tank and started again using Shell Optimax.

Once again over at Peters, his car helps inspire me to finish mine

Damn thing wont start, sure I have missed some wires somewhere, turns out I had no +ve feed to the injectors, gave them some volts and now it runs well, just hunts a bit on idle, so theres always more to sort out

While cranking to find out why it wouldnt start, disaster struck, it was at this point I realised there should have been an oil pressure sender unit screwed in... and as HappySlip's dad would say.. "disasteeerrrr" (youtube her lol)

Then my second disaster, i was using a socket and handle on the end of the crank to turn the engine to check distributor alignment, and forgot to take it off before cranking the car again, there was a big bang and I realised i forgot to take the socket and handle off the crank bolt, the cranking force was enough to crack my favourite 17mm socket, I felt like a goose...

Woohoo, drove the car today, about 10 feet forward and back lol, but its getting there.
Also started cutting the hole in the firewall so I can put the ECU loom in where it should be.
Still covering the neighborhood in smoke, i drained the tank and started again with 20 litres of Shell Optimax, and put some injector cleaner in tonight, hopefully over the weekend i can get this sorted, dont want it smokey for the blueslip check

    Hi All,

I now have 2 PGMFI relays

They both appear to have the same numbering on the pins (and location) but can anyone give me a good diagram to show what wires should go where? I think 2 of the pins have 2 wires each off them. I am not sure if these have different connections to the numbers on each relay

    Thanks
    Chris

I now have my loom going inside the car, it was a bugger trying to cut the hole as I didnt want to pull the whole dash out just to cut it, so with a stepping drill-bit and some right proper bastards (files that is) drilled some holes, cut what I could with a hand-hacksaw, then filed the rest..

This is the messy part before I started

This is the hole, it comes through just behind the fan-blower unit, and then the loom goes straight down to where the ECU will mount.

I have cut the sides of my front lip, just a few screws and thats that..

Just have to finish the wiring, get an exhaust off Trism, then car should be right to go for blue slip

Haha, well, between me and Peter's awesome build, you should be able to find all the info needed, if it's going to be manual, will be heaps easier as the later model EG boxes should fit, I lost a lot of time trying to shoehorn the EG auto box in, only to find it wont fit without some cutting and rewelding the body of the car, not really worth in the end.

I think if I do this again, will be heaps easier, as I have gained a lot of knowledge, and I think if you start with a JDM halfcut, would be really simple, that way you have wiring, mounts and pretty much everything.

    Cheers

I spent another day on the car today, but I just kept going backwards, then a mate turned up and talked and talked for a while, so rather than concentrating, kept trying to remember what I was doing!

I mounted the fuel filter, used some 6mm nutserts, which saved me opening up the vent at the bottom of the windscreen, but not having a proper tool, took me a while to work out how to fix them onto the firewall.

Replaced the earth wire from the chassis to the head, but it took a trip to both Super Cheap and Jaycar just to get lugs and cable.. I can't believe what a crap range they have at SuperCheap, so many things on the shelves are just vacant, they should lift their game, I think I will give all my business to Repco..

Wired the ECU and the PGFM relay, only temporary again, but at least its all inside the car now, I was even able to use the ECU fuse in the engine bay fusebox, theres a plug that supplies the hazard lights, air-con relay and something elese, but the ECU terminal is missing, so took a terminal out of another plug I had, soldered and crimped a new wire to it, and now have a proper fused supply to my PGFM relay.

Will try and get the exhaust I got off Trism in tomorrow, unfortunately it will need some welding (it was cut off the previous car) but that wont hold me up too much.

Will maybe give it a wash too, its such a mess right now.

I only have 2 weeks left to get it finished and registered, so have to get moving on it.

    Cheers

Chris, I've arranged for The Enforcer to come 'round your place and kick your jack stands out from under your car next time you're working on it.

Good to see you're making some progress though.

He can come around, but I will defeat him with my JDM martial arts

    Rice Rice Baby.....

Both Nth Parramatta and Norwest SuperCheap are driving me nuts, and when I asked about how long until they get some new packets of screws to replace the ones that have been missing for weeks, they say "oh, 2 weeks or so"

    AAAAGGGHHHH

I just gave the car a quick wash on the windows and bonnet, its filthy, but my main aim today is just get the wiring correct, and get the car back on stands so I can pull the exhasut off

    Cheers
