    Help with tyres

Hi - I have a 2006 Accord Euro Luxury and I need to put my first set of tyres on it. I nearly died when I started getting quotes on 225/45 R17 tyres. They must be THE most expensive sized tyres on the market ! I mean, Pirellis, in 235/45 R17 are like 1/2 the price of the 225's !!

Anyway, what are people using on their Euros in this size ??

    Thanks.

Look at Yokohama C.Drive or S.Drive. Toyo makes good tyres at a reasonable price as well.

What prices were you quoted on what brands?I'm running Conti Sport Contact 3s approx.$360/tyre but there are other brands out there that are good value eg.Michelin PP2s approx.$250/tyre and Sumitomo(not sure of the model no.).These have had a good rap from a few of the guys here.

Why not just slap the 235's on it, assuming you have a wide enough rim to take them.

So far I have been quoted:

    All 225/45 R17

$469 ea for Brigestone Potenza's - the ones that were on it from the factory.
    $269 for the Toyos
    $207 for the Maxxis MAZ4S

I just found this, looks promising....

Maybe a 235/45x17 would work - that works out to be a 4.5mm diameter difference between the two tyres.

OMFG! $469 a tyre!? Is that the RE050 or the 040?
Adrenalins are a better option IMO.

Btw couldnt you go down to 215/45/17?
    Im assuming rim is 17x7?
215/45s are slightly cheaper than 225/45.
    I got quoted 240 a corner for RE001 Adrenalins in 215/45.

Have you considered the Bridgestone Adrenalins RE001?
Even in 225/45 they shudnt be much more than $250 a corner.

IMO from the tyres Ive used (on DC5S),
    RE001>RE050>Pirelli P7000>Bridgestone Turanza ER90.
But I havnt tried the other tyres you've mentioned.

According to my favorite calculator http://wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp it will change your speedo by about 1.5KPH at 100KPH. . No big deal really as long as your rims can handle the extra width and you have 5mm to spare under the guards.

The 225/35/17's should be fine. Something around the 200 dollar mark should be fine. Just be prepared to accept compromises in terms of grip/handling and wear. I went for a lower wear rate on my last tyre change and the tradeoff was increased tyre roar on the highway. I did manage to get more then 2 and half years out of it though and still going, although i think by end of the year will have to change.

Don't get the same ones that came from the factory.

    Ask for prices on:
    - Bridgestone RE001 or RE050A
    - Yokohama C.Drive or S.Drive

    Which toyos were you quoted?
