Overhang doesn't have much to do with it.

It's to do with the amount of weight, and the distance that weight is from the center of the car. The less the weight is, the further it can be from center of the car without having much of an impact, also the closer a larger weight is to the center of the car the less impact it will have with the front/back weight distribution.

The reason i talk about the engine in regard to the axles is that 100kg behind the front axle (closer to the center of the car) is going to have less impact on the cars balance, then if that same 100kgs is positioned in front of the front axle.

The more central the weight, the easier it is to rotate the car
