    figures taken from various sources

i made a spreadsheet one day when i was bored comparing all the cars on my wish list (long list lol) and some others just to see what the fuel consumption and stock out-put, weight etc was

if you want more of other cars let me know lol

    i get about 10L/100km city

  4. #28
depends on what type of driving/trip i'm doing. if it's 60% highway, 40% city then i average about 7.5-9L/100km.

if it's purely city type driving then i average about 10-12L/100km.

pure highway can be as low as 7L/100km

I've recorded and graphed my fuel weekly fuel consumption figures over since march 2007.

from the beginning to "2" was my 60/40 highway/city in adelaide so pretty stable.

"1" was when i put in gruppeM and reset ECU so had a higher fuel spike for a little while.

"2" was when i first arrived in melbourne and the stop/start traffic driving started.

The "3" massive spike was from a very short 50km drive/fill on a cold cold morning. followed by "4" a drive back to adelaide.

These days i do a lot less km per week, mostly driving in traffic with the occasional spurt so fuel consumption is considerably worse than the majority highway back driving back in Adelaide.

Hmm, seems u guys have high figures.

I usually fill up BP Ultimate, price 145.5, $40 gets me 250KM.
But its funny, if i fill up a full tank for around $55, i only get 430K........

Maybe its the way i drive.....lol

Similar figures to u 2 DC5-S, im using BP Ultimate and around town im gettin 430kms/50L tank or 11.63L/100kms. Can pull upwards of 600kms+/50L tank or less then 8.3L/100kms highway driving.

Thing is tho, it all depends on your mods, tune and the way u drive your car, we all dont have carbon copies of a singular DC5 so we will generally have different levels of fuel consumption.

yea a tank takes me 450+kms... calculated once and that ended to be around 11.6L/100Kms. About 15% highway 85% city haha
I put in Mobil 8000. Only petrol station that ain't PACKED on a Tuesday...

    Random questions guys;
1.)Is there any difference Vpower and MOBIL??
2.)What rev range would be the best to change gears so as to increase fuel efficiency?
3.)Totally unrelated...but what tyre pressure combination is best for FRONT/REAR to increase fuel efficiency for us DC5/DC5R/DC5S owners...i know underflated tyres have a massive impact on fuel...

    1. V-Power is more recommeded as Shell have a larger majority of the market.
    2. If u want great fuel economy shifting at 3000-3500rpm is an idea.
    3. Yes you correct, underflated tyres kill ur economy but also overinflated isn't that great either, i have a set PSI on mine 36PSI which is generally the best for driving on but your car manufactor generally recommends another PSI as it increases the comfort for your drive.

    Hope this helps

4 psi higher then the tyre recommendation/manufactures specs will give you better econermy and a slightly stiffer ride.
manufactures prefer a slightly lower pressure as it adds for a smoother ride.

you will notice the difference in stiffness with 4-5psi more and you will get better economey and will perform better,
but if you put to much in 6psi+ you will damage your tyres and there is no point to do them that hard.

I guess there are a lot of factors to consider that can affect fuel economy.
From tyre pressure, driving behaviour, drag coefficient to mechanical condition...
I used to get 450K's on a full tank on mine when I had a K20a3 engine in my luxury...im sure im gonna get less now with a K24...but hey, more fun!
