    every Type R engine I have seen is OBDIIa, I have never seen OBDI B18C


    looks like they just connected a VTiR ECU to your car.

    EXACTLY right.

    They simply connected a DOHC VTEC OBD1 ecu , since your car has OBD1 wiring.
    What you need , is a OBD1 - OBD2a conversion harness to use the correct ECU. And add wires to it for knock , o2 vtec etc.
