Shopping for an $84,000 Mugen RR in Hong Kong

    Hey All,

Went to the Auto Mall at Lai Chi Kok a couple of nights ago, and seriously, had to be restrained from licking a few cars, great place to drop into in HK and have a look around, lots of exotics, but it was the following that made me wish I had some cash haha.

Yes, HK568,000 is about $84,700 Aus, but really, a few cars over was a new Nissan GTR, it was HK868,000 from memory, This Mugen RR would want to come with a few Japanese Race Gals as a bonus..

Apparently there will be 10 coming to Hong Kong, must be a few people who like to throw money around lol we told the sales guy that I was looking to buy a car to import to Aus, not sure if he really believed me, but I got close and personal with a few cars I ever only thought I would see in magazines or online.

There seems to be JDM Type R FD2's everywhere in Macau, I am hoping to get back there tomorrow for an Auto Salon thing there

I saw a number of other fun Honda's there like the Stream, Stepwgn, and the big arse Elysion, which is a really Lux people mover, Dolby surround sound stereo system with DVD haha

    Cheers, Tseesinngwailo

Spotted one out on the streets in Sham Sui Po outside the Golden Computer Arcade, best place in HK for PC and PS3 stuff

Then next to the Mugen RR was this, there was about 5 inside this Auto Centre, including a fake one haha, but it was a damn good copy, Brembos and all..

$HK278,000 is $41,440 Aus, AARGH, just wish we had this in Aus, I like the FN2, but gee, the FD2 is just DAMN SEXY

There was a few JDM Spec Type R DC5's

    $HK138,000 is about $20,574 Aus

And the first White FN2 I have seen..

    HK Chris

Good to see you're having a great time Chris. You have to wonder about all those handmade yellow cardboard advertising signs though! Did they check your pockets for gearknobs before they let you leave? Ha Ha!

That red RR looks very much like an EVO from the back! Must be the big a*se wing on the bootlid.

    PM sent BTW.

    Still here. Still kickin'

Hey Peter, the signs are easier than painting on the windscreen, and no, all knobs were still in there, I guess the culture here is different to Aus, there seems to be better respect for property, I noticed that all the knobs were in the cars, and the people here who have the money wouldnt need to pinch them anyway. The wing is large, but not ricey

I wish Honda Aus could take a walk around Hong Kong and Macau and see just how good these look on the streets, I saw another today in Mong Kok, they look so race-ready, it's a shame how much it would make them cost by importing, but if Mitsubishi and Nissan can have Halo cars, Honda should give it a thought, the Stream and Stepwgn would find a number of buyers too as long as prices were kept reasonable.

farout.. mugenRR is more than double the price of a FD2R

looks to be that the FD2R is abit more pricey than the FN2R here

in the streets of hk, man u can't appreciate the true speed of these beauties

get it while our $AU exchange is high lol.. buy it, leave it in hk for a year and then import it over haha

They do still say Gwailo whenever I am around, haha

And yeah Hisoka, the car is a 2L..

Mugen claims the RR is just 10kg lighter than the cooking Type-R, demonstrating how lean that car already is. You won’t find a substantial power uplift either. In concept form, the RR was said to have a 256bhp, 2.2-litre version of the much-lauded K20A engine, but the production version sticks with the original 2 litres. Mind, with 237bhp it does produce more power than the stock 222bhp unit, thanks to new cams, a tailor-made 4-3-1 exhaust with high-flow catalysts, and a fat tail-pipe either side of the impressive rear diffuser.

I think the new Advanced Concept RR is the 2.2L, the original concept was 2.2L as well, but it's fine by me, if I win Lotto I will spash out on one anyway, or get a JDM FD2 Type R and spend the extra $40K modding it haha
