All I can say Irving is they seen you coming, you were had big time. The 10,000km service by the book calls for oil change only, no filter. As for engine flush & fuel treatment, that is total BS at that milage.
Regarding the Update I had today, all I can say is I was with the Technician the whole time. there was no time wasting at all, 3 hours 5min start to finish.
I will add that as a licensed mechanic I do my own servicing, changing oil & filter every 5,000km. Genuine oil & filter costs me $58.30 plus about 1 hour of my time. I will change Auto fluid every 20,000km & that is a simple process.

Put the car on ramps, (I use a floor jack) there are 7 bolts you will need to remove (10mm socket) so you can get the undertray off. sump bolt is obvious, oil filter is on the bottom drivers side of the engine.

Guys, I am no Mug....but sometimes we like to see the better side of people and give them the benefit of the doubt. Only to be dissapointed....
First lesson Irving is when you take your car any where for service you need to specify as per log book, no additives, & please phone me before doing any additional work.
I would be looking for another dealer, or better still an independent licensed workshop.

I always refrain from commenting on individual workshops as everything thing depends on the work ethics of the individual employees, not the name of the company. Any company is only as good as the people they have working for them.
In saying that, basic log book servicing is childs play for any licensed mechanic

As for the 3 hour procedure for the ping fix, is this a new procedure or did they take short cuts and do the bare minimum?
What worries me now is that if the fix was done in an unspecified manner, the known issue of post combustion detonation may have morphed into something different.
Look, if they ****ed up the ping upgrade by doing it in an unspecified manner the new pinging problem may not be post combustion detonation!
I can only go by what I was told Irving. As I have posted previously i had the software update done originally on the 10th August & was happy with the outcome, even without the knock sensor replacement at that time.
I was called back to the dealer yest for a further update. I was told that this new software update supersedes the previous version & has now been replaced by a new 3 stage update that changes all previous software parameters, including Auto shift points. It is a 3 stage process and has to be done in a set sequence to achieve the full benefit. Apparently the first car they applied this to was a nightmare as the technicians need to learn the correct process which is not outlined clearly in the TSB. That car was in the workshop for 8 days before the Technician worked out the proper sequence. (fortunately I was not the guinea pig)
Other than that I can't comment further, other than to say I have not noticed any difference in my car as I have only done 30 gentle km on the way home, but I will post my finding after I have put some km's on it. It is possible i will have a trip to Gosford for Xmas - 1400km each way, so that will tell the story.

Well, mine is in the workshop today. They said whole day (and I dropped the car in early!). For those that may have read my previous post, my dealership had said that they will need the car for as much time as possible as they had ONLY DONE 1 FIX so far.
Today, I dropped the car off and said I wanted to pick up when ready. The reply was "Well, I'll put down 2pm, but it's unlikely because the pinging fix will take some time. Your car is the first we're going to do!"
AAARRGGGGHHHHHH!!
Anyways, so I say, but your boss standing next to you said to me last week that I'd be the second, and they say (honestly!): "Well, the first was actually done by a Honda Tech who was showing our service techs how to implement the fix properly."
So...will post back with an update soon!
BTW...mine is in for 10,000kms + Ping + my handbrake lever has horizontal play (anyone else? there are a few that I know of).

YUP, the dealer get one of their demo car for me as a loan car for FREE.
Went in for the 1st service 3 weeks ago (with some fix to be done), identified that pinging issue present, booked in for the fix on 24/09/09. But on 24/sep, they said they have no record for the car to be fixed (because the mechanics who service my car the first time had left and he has not order the parts from HA), but i left my car there for fixing other minor issues. Was offered an Euro Base with Modulo Kitas loan car, but i requested to have a Civic Si .
Then, they call me yesterday to have the car fixed next Thursday. Will drop in the car for 2 days and get another loan car. Been very happy with my dealer.
