Relative new (old) honda civic vti question

Just two questions (please excuse my ignorance as I'm a new owner):

1. I'm a new honda civic vti 2007 owner, having inherited one from the folks who decided to get a new civic vti 2009 limited edition today. Having gone through the forums taking a look at the threads in the civic (2001 and above) forums, I've come across the terms FD1/FN2R/EP3 etc that describe what type of civic people have. How do I work out what type I've got?

2. My 'new' vti has got the stock steel on hubcaps, but I'm looking at giving it a bit of a facelift... What wheels do people recommend I get for this? I'm looking at not spending too much, roughly $1000 - $1500 if possible. I know that there's an array of wheels out there, so I'm just trying to work out what will / won't work with the civic.

In terms of what style/design of wheels you want for your Civic, it is mainly down to your own personal preference. You can have a look at this link which members have posted on what they've put on their Civics and also an idea of what sizes will work

06 to current civic - FD1 for vti and vti-l, FD2 for civic sports, FN2R for the Type-R we have here, FD2R is the one in Gold Coast that you have to bow to if you see it.
EP3 is the Civic Type R from 02 to 05, it has to be imported from land of JDM lolz.

some more info on your civic.
- it is 5 lug (5 nuts/bolts)
- PCD is 5 x 114.3, meaning you can only source rims that has this PCD.
- stock steel rim size is 15", legally you can go up 2 inches to 17" but people here have been using 18", 19" and even 20"s.
- offset is +45, you will need to look for rims with around this offset, but +- a little is fine depending on suspension height, rim width, rim diameter, tyre profile and tyre width.
- you can lower the car via only changing the springs, springs + shocks, or coilovers, all 3 will produce different height and ride comfort.

i've come across standard euro 16inch wheels.. don't really wanna pay too much on the wheels atm as a bit short on cash.. will these fit on my fd1?

Hey welcome!

From memory Civic has a +45 offset, and euro has a +55 offset, so it might/might not fit. Just to give you an idea, I have Integra type R (DC5R) gunmetal rims on my MY09 Civic VTi, even though they all have the same offset, because the spokes are designed to curve a bit inward, I have to shave my caliper just a little to prevent from rubbing.

That is a awesome deal mate, Those sports rims are rare, i always wanted a set. I sold mine VTi rims with near new rubber for 120 LOL. $400 and you got yourself a nice upgrade
