Red face wanting to buy civic type r but.....

    Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum. And i am nearly wanting to purchase a 1999 civic type r but the one that i've been looking has got EK1 registered to it.
    Need your advise, please help!

Do you guys think it is ok to buy the type r which is registered under EK1 or should i just search for another civic?

The whole chasis is ek9 but the firewall is stamped as ek1.

Thank you and will be waiting for your guys advise.

    Regards,
    Honrat

it is just a ek civic cxi
with ek9 parts put on to make it look like a ek9
so its isnt a real ek9

    just a replica

What sort of budget have you got? EK9 Type R's are marked up heavily in Australia in comparison to their overseas price.

Thanks for the quick update guys.if it is a CXI then i rather get the vti-r.Eg's would be another option.
They are lighter and faster with those engines but i thought of getting the ek type r which has got a league of its own.
But rather curious how much would a ek type r go for currently. The type r that i was mentioning to you guys is going approx:$17,000.How much would you guys pay for if the type r has got the EK1 stamped to the firewall?

    Regards,

The car you are looking at might not even be a cxi.. might be a gli if it has power windows and done up to look like an ek9.
If you want to buy a genuine ek9 banana posted up the link to seeker's one or you can find another on carsales going for 24k.
17k for that car that you are looking at.. hmm.. really depends what engine it has - if c7 in it and it looks like an ek9 then it might be worth it because i reckon thats how much it will cost you to do up an ek1 to ek9 anyways and saves you all the trouble of looking for the parts - which is half the fun anyways goodluck

what engine does the cxi have in it? is it a b16b? If so then it MIGHT be worth the money.. it'd want to have something good in it to be worth that much when you can buy a real one for a few grand more...

Would be cheaper/quicker to just buy a VTiR and do it up.

more than 10 grand.. the b18cr is already 6-7 k, unless he finds an eg worth 3k and he can diy the conversion.

to the op, what's your budget? if you plan spending over 20k then you could consider buying an EP3 (Civic Type R 2nd Gen) or a DC5R (Integra Type R 2nd Gen). at least they are newer..
