    handbrake not holding car

    Hey all,

    is there any way to tighten the handbrake on your own? honda reckons theyve done it but it still wont hold the car on my driveway unless i yank it hard all the way.. any ideas?

    use first gear for now, but go to thema nd 'replicate' the problem. they'll fix it for u

    yea honda's stupid handbrake system
    i brang it up to honda and all they said was, "ur meant to put it in first gear when u park" and wont tighten it for me
    my car rolled down a hill before nearly hitting another house

    what douchebags. I think you cna DIY it if you take the covers off... not tryin that though.

    Honda handbrakes are shiet, no wonder why u don't get drifting civics!

    Take it to a non dealership mechanic. I'm pretty sure they'll be a lot more helpful.

    I think the handbrake needs to be adjusted to drift like that .. you can still do it but its much harder

    I thought that was the sole purpose of having a hand brake?

    Even from years ago, you are meant to put the car into 1st or reverse gear when you park. The handbrake is just an aid. It can't do the whole job on its own.

    That is why autos have a "P" to help the handbrake hold the car.
