installing headrest dvd players on fd civic

I am trying to install headrest dvd players into a 2009 civic. They are the replacement type which means i take off the original headrests and put the ones with the dvd's in their place. Now when I try to run the cabling through the hole it does not seem to get very far. I have even tried with a thin rod but only goes down about 15cm. Can someone tell me if they can be installed or not. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
