this may sound stupid, but would you get tints done on your sunroof glass as well?
i'm getting my tints done @ solartint this friday for $325 which will keep 2/3's of the heat out.
what do you guys think? too much? i don't mind paying extra for a good job
-
why not dr tint ? think they charge cheaper
-
No you dont tint your sunroof
Also it will probably fade or crack as its in direct sun.
The glass is already factory tinted.
$325 is a rip off
up in sydney we can get tints done for $140

You said it all....a $140 tint will go to crap.
And find them when you want a warranty claim.
Go to people like Solartint in NSW if that's where you come from because they are the national distributor for the American product made by Madico USA and have been that way for more than 30 years....that's peace of mind purchasing and stand by their name and reputation.
A backyarder may be around for 30 months if you are lucky.

thanks rob
i've definitely learnt my lesson when choosing things for my car
no more going to "friends of friends" who claim to "look after you" lol
i'm only going to reputable places now even if it means having to pay extra, hence the $325 i'm forking out. i know solartint will still be around in 30-40 years time whereas a backyard job can leave you out of pocket and worse off...
i'm getting my wheels finally put on tomorrow, my first mod. which thread should i post in? i really haven't seen any accord euro's with the wheels i'm getting.. no one seems to be customising their wheels for some reason =| it's quite disappointing.. i mean, guys are buying nice wheels and for a couple hundred extra could have it the way they want, but i guess not..

I got my car done with 20% sides and 30% rear (just for good visibility out the back) at CarX in Clayton and they did an absolutely awesome job. Can't say enough good things about the work done there.
The tinter who did mine took care with my leather interior by covering everything up and took his time to do a great job. No issues or problems with it, looks black from the outside all round and is hard to see in for privacy which is what I wanted, but very easy to see out and blocks out most sun from outside too.
They also removed old tint on all four windows and a really badly bubbled rear window and then re-applied the new Suntek film all round, all for $260 all up. I got a discount as my mate Matt (M@lew) and I did ours at same time.
If you're in melbourne you can't go past them for price and quality, it was a no brainer after tint-a-car and tint professor gave me prices of $400+ including removal.
CarX FTW!!

20% installed in Victoria is illegal and you are now running around in a car that is not only unroadworthy but compromises your insurance cover...fact!
A great tinter!
$400 for total removal and application of a very high performance film is quite well within the market expectations.

My previous car was done by this tinter with no problems at all..
He is just not a rippoff like the larger franchise stores like Solartint..

I'm assuming by saying what you have above, that you believe the $260 I paid for my tint was not a high performance film? Perhaps the quality of CarX's tint is lackluster, is that what you're inciting? I'm no professional tinter so I guess my assessment of the quality may not be completely accurate...
Preaching legalities on what's right and wrong on these forums will have little effect, but I appreciate your efforts
I understand my car tints are illegal but that's my choice and my problem, just like other areas of car modification that a lot of us choose to ignore to pursue our goals for our cars. Search "Defect" or "Defected" and see how many results you get...
Wide wheels, dark tints, loud exhausts, epic lowering, aftermarket HID kits, excessively loud audio setups - defectable modifications are everywhere mate, they are a part of the scene and nowadays it's difficult to do anything worth doing to your car without getting dicked for it, so excuse my belligerence when you tell me something I already know and knew weeks prior to getting my tint.
You are, from what I've read a honest tinter who follows the stringent guidelines for car window tinting, good for you! Unfortunately there are guys out there who do bend the rules for us illegal modifiers, who undercut your business with "shoddy" work, illegal tinting levels, cheap prices, offer no warranty or a limited warranty and operate out of their "backyards".
But when it comes down to it, I'm happy to pay $260 for the same quality tint (same brand used at Tint-A-Car) as a $400 tint at a chain store. I, as a consumer am happy to choose tint levels I like, despite their infringement of regulations, that's my choice.
And when the good old boys in blue nab me, I'm sure I'll be wishing I listened to your wise advice...Tinter.
Until then however, I am over the moon with my tints and see no issue with them.
All the best!
