Tyre recommendation for Civic FD1 VTI-L 2007

Hi All,

I'm want to know if anyone can give me recommendation for replacement tyres for my Civic FD1 2007 with stock VTI-L wheels (16 inch). I'm looking for tyres that are reasonably priced and have a good performance and don't make a lot of noise.

Lol have you burnt yours up already! My VTi-L is an 07 as well, but i changed tyres cos my dad was selling his car (switcheroo for new ones)

I'm on RE001's and they're good. Noise is about the same, but they feel a lot grippier than the ER30's. (er30's or er300's :S)

i'd definitely recommend the RE001's but they're something like $190 each.

So correct me if I'm wrong, the ER30's are the one that come with the car right?
Is the Potenza series better than the Turanza?
I don't mind paying a bit extra as long as it last me a while. I'm on 50k now, so I think I better change two tyres that are on their 25%.
Have you heard about Toyo tyres? My friend told me they are good..

One question that I always want to get the answer.. I saw a few ads for 17" wheels+ tyres that only cost $1000ish, do you reckon it's worth to buy a new sets of wheels of it will just adding weight to the car hence more fuel to be burned?

ER30 is the ones that come with the car.
Potenza is more of a sporty tyre and focused on performance while turanza is more on ride comfort. Tyre choice depends on what you're after and what budget you have. I went for RE001 because I was after performance and they're relatively cheap compared to it's competitors.

Wheel size is more to do with looks in my opinion, if you're just cruising around town you won't notice a big difference but a slightly bigger wheel does feel more direct when turning, disadvantage is ride comfort is slightly compromised and you feel potholes alot more. If you see a set of wheels you like at the right price I don't see why not.

I don't mind with the stock wheel, it's just because my lil brother used to drive the car and now the wheels got many scratches. Thats why I was thinking to get a new set of wheels + tyres. Do you know if these scratches and dents on alloy wheel can be fixed?
I might go for the e300 this time because I'm don't really need a performance tyres.

Scratches/rimrash can be fixed, depending on how badly they are. It can be costly though.

I googled for some reviews about the RE001 and some of them said that the tyre wall is too soft. Do you find that too?

I don't really notice because i don't really drive the car to the limits.

The idea of the RE001 is that it's stiffened, without being stiff like proper race tyres. the 'too soft' opinion could have come from the stig or something, for all i know
