I have been into refinishing for quite a while and let me fore worn you... it's one hell of a task. Firstly, you will make mistakes and it won't look 100% on your first go especially if you aren't wet sanding the final finish.

Are you using Acrylic or Urethane paints? Booth or Garage? Your own compressor/Spray Equipment?
At the moment i've got a few panels from the wreckers that i've been learning/practicing my panel beating skills on. After a few attempts using different techniques i think i've got that down pretty well. The panels look alot better then what they did when i got them! hehe.

I've got my own compressor, lines, filters and getting my own gun soon. I have started collecting a bunch of disposables as well (sand papers, blocks, canned primers, plastic sheets blah blah blah). I'll be trying an acrylic paint setup on the panels first to see how i go with it.

My plan is to do all the parts as seperate as i can. (ie, start a quarter, finish it all the way to clear coat). That way i can build myself a booth at home big enough for me to do a bonnet in. And then when it comes to the remainder of the chassis i'll be able to build something more substantial.

I want to be able to take my time and not be pressured into having to do it all at once and rush. Thats why i've designed a booth built from PVC piping that i can dismantle and put the frame to one side while i work on other stuff.

Sorry for going off topic in this thread. Let me know if its not welcome Hitorikos.

really, i don't think theres any reason to upgrade to one on a stock motor unless you have to due to your current one breaking.

If you've got a good radiator, new coolant and a fully function thermostat and switch you'll be fine.
