You will find that opinions on this vary between 2 and 2.25
I have the best of both worlds, 2" from the headers, 2" high flow cat, which then goes to a 2.25" catback
Either of them should be fine. I'd defo go 2.25" if you're going to chuck a crazy cam in...but I've seen cars with upto 2.0L with 2" so i don't think theres going to be much difference, especially if its press bent, because you lose some of the width in the bend. so my 2.25" catback is pretty much equivalent to 2" anyway because its press bent
Get mandrel bent piping if its that important to you, but a 2" setup should be fine

My EG5 build "Try to move in with a hot easy gurl. I've got a mate who does his house mate when he gets drunk. This way you can cure some of the loneliness and also save $$$ on prosties. Just remember to act like nothings happened the next day because if you get attached your laterz mate."
For a D16Y1 I'm one of the people who suggests using a 2" press bent setup.
Due to loss of low-end torque if you go bigger than 2" and I think press bent is better since you won't get any power out of it basically and it's cheaper/not worth it
