I agree,IMO the only thing mineral oil is good for is running in engines, go a synthetic oil
g-day dudes yes in my s2k i would only use synthetic i looked at many oil but i use nulon 5w40 used a little oil so switch to 10w40 Nulon is oz made and as good as eny yank oil
For oil wise, is genuine oil always better?, i just got mine serviced with penrite synthetic its not that bad, however i had castrol edge and honda genuine oil as well, but i found the castrol edge much better. just wondering if genuine is always better
thanks

haaha you answered your own question.
in my opinion mineral is really only good for running new engines in...after that running synthetic is better. I prefer Castrol Edge because it meets all the requirements, comes in the right viscosity and is priced decently.
when i was using Edge it used to burn heaps.. every fortnight i would probably have to fill up a bit as it would drop to half way between the H--L .. with FEO it doesnt seem to burn that much at all.. it has been a month or two and ive lost barely 1/4..
ok cool.. thanks guys.. i've got FEO in mine at the moment, but i'm planning on flushing that out tomorrow and put castrol edge 5-30 in.. guess i'll have to stock up on the oils when they're on sale..
i don't have any idea how to clean the pcv valve on the rocker cover.. so if it's an easy process to explain jbird, it'll be great if you could advise.. if it's too complex.. dw bout it..
You can either clean it or replace it. The one in your car should make a rattle sound when you shake it. If it doesn't it means its clogged up with oil.
Carburettor cleaner is a good way to clean it. Spray it liberally inside and dry with a cloth/tissues.
1. pull out of rocker cover
2. disconnect it from the hose using bullnose pliers
3. clean the valve. (not the engine or rocker cover!)
4. dry
5. reinstall.
i just did an oil change and oil filter change .. it originally had FEO in it.. but it was fairly black.. now it's got golden Castrol Edge 5-30w and new OEM filter.. now it's driving like a dream.. woot woot..
