    its pinging.

    it kills your engine.

use better fuel, don't labor the engine at lower rpm's and get your car tuned and serviced properly.

Every engine will make this noise when there is bad fuel, tuning and incorrect driving.

don't labor your engine...... meaning....... don't drive in high gear while engine speed is low.

does the rattle sound like those spray cans with the ball bearing inside when you shake them? sounds like it is pinging...

first things first run 98octane fuel.. and get the distributor timing checked by a mechanic.. get the whole car checked by a mechanic actually.

hey guys, just letting you know regarding this engine pinging thing,
i filled up shell v-power (full tank) and the pinging has completely gone

just to check i put load on the engine like i used to, but only for a few moments.
    engines running fine now.

btw anyone know if i have to keep running high octane in my car from now on?

i actually didnt get my car checked out by a mechanic, but will inquire about the problem if i have to keep running v-power to keep engine pinging away..
    (sorry bad grammar, cbf)

What engine is the car running?
Should be able to take normal 95ron fuel without pinging,
unless you went to some dodgy servo.

engine is original, never took it to a dodgy servo..

however i only bought this car around 1-2 months ago.
(car looked absolute shit, paint faded, front tyres bald, nail in 1 rear tyre, 20% tread left in the rears)

im going to assume the car has been running on e-10 for a few years lol. purchased off an old man 50~60?

when i bought it, there was no engine pinging, so i think its cause i didnt drive it properly. (learned on this car)

    Try resetting the ecu.
To do that, remove the negative battery terminal for few minutes.
This will reset your head unit.
If the car still the original stereo set, make sure you have the security pin.

After that, drive with the new shifting point. This should make the ECU to learn your new driving style..
and *hopefully* it will reduce the pinging.
