    Searching for more power.

hey all. I would like more power from my civic, its a bit gutless going up hills. I dont want anything which will break my bank. Any thoughts would be nice. Thanks.

    D-series engine?

    Is it modified yet?

If you want some low-down power for going up hills I'd just put in a performance panel filter, maybe take off the resonator to make an air feed into your box.
    Header and cat-back, maximum 2" for D and mid-range.

EDIT: Even a D16A8 has a better torque curve...

is your car manual or automatic?

those automatic ek1's are pretty gutless man..

i have a manual ek1 and it goes pretty decent uphill.

ok, first off, its a 1996 EJ8 civic, i dont know the exact engine, only mod is a pod filter which would do shit all.
secondly, it is a manual, autos is just shit.

i dont know if that'll help but its a start.

sell it and get a new car?
or engine conversion, u wont get much gains, well not enough to have a significant performance increase

There are things you can do to increase your mid-range and maybe top-range power, but unfortunately the D-series engine won't really make much power down low or, to be honest, ever be an awesome naturally aspirated engine.

So if you want power for going up hills etc you might be in a bit of trouble unless you can afford to swap engines.

Otherwise I'd suggest an icebox intake setup with a cold air feed (enclose your pod in a box with a pipe running down to your bumper), 2" ebay header (N*Power for example), high-flow cat and 2" mild-steel press-bent cat-back (since it's a D-series no point going stainless-steel or mandrel -bent).

If you get some cheap ebay headers (which will save a few KG's and flow better), do a DIY cold air intake and get a mild-steel press-bent cat-back with a high-flow cat...you can probably get all that done for like $800-900. Would give you some nice sound, maybe a little in the way of power gains, but don't expect too much since it's a D-series engine bro. Do it for fun
