Strange Noise from Engine - Civic 2007 Sport

    Hi all,

I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone here can tell me what might causing this strange noise that I've been hearing from, I think, the engine bay of 2007 Civic Sport.

    http://rapidshare.com/files/37782534...e_Bay.mp3.html

The MP3 file is about 5 seconds long and if you listen carefully you can hear the strange noise about 1 second in (turn the volume up)

From what I've observed, it doesn't matter whether A/C is on/off or whether the car's accelerating/decelerating, turning/going straight.

Please have a listen and tell me what you think causing it. Your help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for your response, Curtis.

I personally wouldn't use the word or describe it as "scratching", perhaps "tapping" is closer. Please focus on your media player's time indicator as it starts playing the MP3 file. The noise occurs almost 1 second into the whole duration of the MP3 file. Any idea what it is?

yeah..on 1sec and 4sec...try to open up the hood and listen to it....you might pinpoint where that sound is really coming from....but its really hard to tell what it is....its like tapping a stick on a metal

Thanks for the reply, fitme. I'll give it a try although I'm pretty sure that the noise occurs only when the car's in motion
