Thanks for the valuable insight everyone, its been really helpful.

DC5-S, I would love to drive a type-S or a type R but I havnt seen a type S or R which are around $18~19k. And If they are they have really high km's (like 130k km+)
The only question that I have now is whether the sellers are actually expecting to recieve the full amount they posted online, or are they flexible in lowering the price of their cars? (or does this really depend on the seller)

I actually saw a nice Type-R listed today in carpoint for $21k, but I'm not sure whether to give them a call knowing the max I can pay is $19k.\

Anyway thank you all for the comments
Any further comments will be much appreciated!!

Hmm... I'll have to go for a spin in a Type S to see if there is a difference... you sure it doesn't come down to the actual intake used?

+1. The I-Vtec crossover in a DC5S sounds exactly the same as in a DC5R.
45SET is right. Its probably your intake.
VTEC in a K series is alot more 'subtle' than the B series.

    OP, IMO DC5R > DC5 Lux.
    Here's a couple on carsales < 19k:

Unless sunroof and leather is that important to you. Then get the DC5 Lux.

save and get a type s if you want sunroof and leather and using it as a daily..

seats are more comfy, less aggressive

    facelift is alot nicer..

if your budget is that low get a type r, simple.. its not like ur gonna be sticking ur head out the sunroof everyday..

any model underneath that is yeah.. dont even look at them..

R or S thats all! you get what u pay for..

go with the R or S mate... i brought a type S instead of an R because it had the sunroof and leather! but the other reason i brought it as i believed that it would b easier to sell down the later on as it appeals to a wider range of people having those luxury items.. save your cash and buy a decent R or S!

I managed to pick up a pretty decent Type R for $19K with less than 100,000kms on the odo. you just need to be patient and look around. I think if they listed for $21K, you should be able to negotiate down to $19K....I did!

Just be patient as it can take a while. I was actually very lucky that it didn't take me too long in my search (less than a month).

Personally, I would go with the R over the S since the type R is more aggressive and lighter in weight without all the luxury items. Type R is also better on fuel consumption if that helps your decision. Good luck and I would give that guy on carpoint asking $21K a call and see if he will take $19K

It seems to have been in a hit, and instead of buying new Type R lights maybe he bought standard base model ones.

If you look at the front bumper, it doesnt allign straight.. sometimes .. this happens coz of a few bumps but if it was a good enough hit.. it sits like that to.

It does look like a type R motor though.. and well the motor is what makes a car a type r lol. But i can definately say.. that car has been in some kind of minor or large accident. I cant see the top of the shocks, or the front bar shape etc.. Best off inspect the car..
Check under the bumper look at the front bar shape and alligning, check for respraying of the front bar/chassis. Check the levels of the struts etc...

Im no expert the DC5's though so maybe it is .. a fake type R. But in my opinion for someone that doesnt know much about DC5 i can just say.. it looks like its been a hit

As for buying one .. honestly mate i cant stress this enough Km's are nothing.. end of the day its not a brand new.. car there usually 04-05 model aye? around that mark .. think about it its 5 yrs old.

In my opinion a car with High K's is usually more well maintained. But ofcourse used more. Its like a .. muscle, use it or lose it lol. buy a Type R NEVER EVER vtec it for 5 years, you tell me what it happens 5 yrs later when u do vtec it lol

    Depends what your after...
I've seen people buy DC5R's for around $27k with around 80,***km..
    Difference in what you pay for is;
    It's modified correctly
    Very well maintained
    Regularly cleaned
Never smoked in (this make a big difference in my eyes)
    98 Octaine (Always)
    Serviced (5000km or 10,000km [6 months])
Colour seems to be a big issue (Championship White you generally pay abit more..)

Mine will be going on carsales while im off the road at a price that i THINK is reasonable. I ain't fussed if it goes or not as im happy with mine
If it sells, it sells and ill be back in the market for something, if it doesn't im more then happy to keep it
I just wanna see whats out there and what people are willing to offer.

    Anyway,
    thats my 2cents..

have you even tried inspecting cars and offering money to the guys? i dont know about you, but when selling a car, you always put it up for a few more G's then what you actually want..

so just go, inspect the car, and give ur offer face to face.
