Did my 30k service (FD2) a couple of weeks ago..$190 at Astoria Honda, however i supplied the Oil (Castrol Edge bought when it was on special)

They changed the oil filter as well (not specified in service book)...took just under an hour..

I mentioned that it was sometimes running a little rough at idle and theu cleared all fault codes running perfectly now

    Great service, even washed it!

    Angry

So here's my experience with my local dealer today...

I had previously had my car serviced at this dealer for the second 10k 6mths service. However, I was at work and had to send dad to drop off the car and pay.
    I'll summarise the costings.

    10k (6mths) service:
    Labour - $114
Consumables (Repsol Multivalvulas oil) - $99.89
    Oil Filter Cart - $16.65
    Washer Drain - $1.56
    Env levy - $4.75
    Workshop supplies - $6.25

    Total: $243.10 + $24.31(GST) = $267.41

    20k (12mths) service:
    Labour - $135.92
    Oil Filter Cart - $19.77
    Washer Drain - $3.49
    Env levy - $6.25
    Workshop supplies - $14.95

    Total: $180.38 + $18.04(GST) = $198.42

As you can see, on the second service the oil is missing since I purchased my own oil for $50 from repco. Looking at the 10k service, they've charged me $100 for the oil! This is why I decided to take my own oil and see what happens.

Of course this time around I asked for the sum of the service before it was done. Well, the guy tells me that the total would come to around $243.... WTF? That's not much different to my first service is my initial thought...

Before even questioning it, the guys starts telling me that the cost of labour has actually gone up...while he's doing this, the chick next to him jumps in and says something along the lines of "the normal oil is around $50 and the full synth is $100 so it comes to about the same thing when you bring your own oil...etc". I say NO!, I'm actually providing my OWN oil so that whipes the $100 oil price right off the list which should result in my final amount being $100 less. Luckily she doesn't say anything further.

Meanwhile, the guy is still looking at his screen and now decides to pluck out the following story, "on your previous service (10k) it seems that the discounted hourly rate was charged..." WTF2!!? I was like huh? What discounted rate?? Why wasn't this stated on the estimate and why weren't we told?? Of course they can't answer... He continues to say that the hourly labour rate is $115 whereas we were charged $95 per hr....

Anyway in the end he decides that he can do the discounted hourly rate for me again (somehow for some odd reason), so my total ended up being $198 inc GST. Add to that the $50 I spent on the oil it totals $248. Only a $20 saving for taking in my own oil...

As you can see, they've actualy bumped up the labour and parts and other prices in place of the missing fuel....

Is this legit? Do I have a case to complain here that Honda are charging different prices for the same parts? Its only been 6 months apart and the cost of a washer drain has doubled?? I did not like the way they handled my situation and queries at all. You can tell how shifty dealers are, just by my case...They over inflate prices for no good reason just to cash in your hard earned money...

    Thoughts?

That's what the most car service center will do, not only Honda.
I called UtltraTune to book in for service and change oil for my Honda Civic (5000km because i do alot of city driving with too many start-stop and short distance). They quoted 150 with oil change, i said i would supply the oil, after working for like 10mins all the phone, they said they will charge me 145 without oil come with a lot of blah blah ). I guessed that they will earn commission with oil companies so oil change does not make much sense to them. WTF.
