Whats up fellas, had a JDM CTR for the last year...nice to know there are so many real drivers left in the world. N/A all the way! Want to ask a quick question...I have a '02 JDM CTR with custom exhaust manifold and custom built cat, Mugen Twin Loop exhaust system and a Mugen CAI. Also have DBA slotted rotors all round, Project Mu Street pads, braided Teflon coated brake lines and BuddyClub adjustable suspension, with a set of 80%Pirelli P Zeros...ok now that you are all filled in and on the same page, lets get down to the matter at hand. Having a convo the other day with a mate of mine and he reckons a Stock Mk5 Golf R32 (DSG) would beat my car 0 - 100, quatermile and he went as far as to say around the track...please tell me that isn't the true, at least not around the track? Let me know what you boys reckon, maybe hit me back with some of your specs, some quatermiles, 0 - 100s, anything really just wanna know i am not going to humiliate myself the next time we head to the track together. I have faith in my car and i would take my CTR over his 'FAT' Volkswagen any day. BTW if anyone is interested, may be hitting up Wakefield in the next couple of weeks. Thanks, Cheers

Dunno how else to ask bro? Do you reckon that a stock R32 is quicker than a modded ctr?
-
well just from looking at the r32's specs
v6 3.2L
184kw@6300
320nm@2500-3000
but it weighs much more than the ep3 1510-1530kg compared to ep3 1210kg
i say ep3 would hand it down.......then again its not stock vs stock so your mate can use that against you if he loses (most likely he will lose lol)
but then again if it was stock vs stock its not fair comparing a 3.2l 6cyl and a 2.0L 4cyl engine......but i reckon a stock ep3 will still have good chance in being quicker around the track
have faith in the CTR brother.

100% faith bro...just wanted someone else's opinion. How much power do your reckon the exhaust system can give? Also what sort of time do you think my car would be pulling 0 - 100 km/h, haven't timed it yet, what does your do if you don't mind me asking....
-
i think standing start, R32 with DSG would be faster than our car.
around the track, it'll depends on what track but i'd dare say at a dry Wakey, EP3 should be faster over a lap.

If it helps for comparison's sake, I've been up against a MK VI R32 on both the track (Wakefield) and on the strips (Eastern Creek).
EP3: Stock as a rock
R32: Had a CAI mod
On the drag strips, I am able to take off faster than the R32 and stay in the lead for a while. Once we both hit 3rd gear, the R32 surges ahead to win the race - I believe torque on the R32 pulled it ahead while my lack of top end power caused me to fall behind.
On the track, the EP3 ended up being faster as I am able to exit corners a lot faster than the R32 due to reduced weight and the Type R handling. The R32 was a more heavier car and did catch up to me on the straights but around the bends the EP3 was a lot more agile.
However it all comes down to driver skills - my notes are in no way a solid indication that one car is better than the other - I am just merely laying down the facts of what happened when I went up against an R32 so that you can make up your own judgement.
