Im not sure whether people have posted about this before, but i remember someone telling me that the K20Z2 is the achilles heel off the K series engines.

Has anyone ever tried putting K20Z1/3/4 blocks/heads onto the K20Z2? I thought all the K20Zs were rubbish until i youtubed them and saw that some mad as hatter EGs with K20Z1 and 3s...they seem to be comparable to K20As? (wikipedia told me that the Type S uses the K20Zs and so do the Euro Rs)

If it is possible then would it not open more options for people who own FD1/2s?

Sorry if this is a noob question, i havent been able to find many people who can report they have done any engine mods to their R18A1s and K20Z2s. If you know a thread please link.

    Thank you =)

^^ dont think anyone here has interchanged engine parts from other k20z engines with the k20z2.. although there is one that has had a k20z4 swapped into an fd1

in other news.. someone stole my red valve caps BUT they only took 2 of them lol. luckily they're not rays or anything expensive

I don't think they're quite that bad! Low power output maybe...but drives nice and smooth with a good amount of torque.

    @ Aero
Was it a difficult job? worth doing in an FD? or is it nothing as simple as dropping a b16A into an EG4

    @xenon
I wasnt saying it was a "bad" engine....id just like a little more..excitement? For a "sport" it just seems to drive a little too smooth

It was me who said it was the achilles, and i said it was the Z2, you must've misread me.
    The Z1 Z3 and Z4 are awesome!

You could try changing bits if u were daring...

Lol nah didnt misread you, i said the Z2 was...Not keen on that idea, dropping in a Z1 seems to be more feasible...Is the general construction for Z2 the same as the Z1/3? Except for the internals of course do the drive train, flywheel all link up the same?

I guess what im trying to ask is that is it just a matter of taking a Z2 out and dropping a Z1 in

    sorry, posted wrong link
have you tried this? i emailed my mate that did this to one of my older cars to see what he thinks. i never got him to do it to my last car as i was happy with teh performance, but i always remember him making the change and my car had a definite boost in performance. even he was surprised. i wouldn't really try it myself as I don't know much.

it causes a funny idle, but don't know if the ecu in the new civics would be smart enough to adjust to the air temperature difference it causes.

its not as simple as slapping a new head into a fd2, compression ratios in the blocks are all different in the k20z series

and also dropping a k20z4 into a fd1/2 is not cheap and it is quite difficult (i.e - ant no backyard job)

dont get too ambitious into making the current 8th series civic into a power house, it is more of a family orientated car unless you have the funds ready to do so, if it was cheap and easy most of us would already be rocking with 150kw+ atw
