Your build will possibly end up somewhere in the 12-15k range; EK1 ~5k + B18CR front cut ~6k + your suspension that you've already got ~1k + possible brake upgrade ~1k if you go dc2r 5-lug +labour
Ek's are nice, but with the prices of some dc2r's around, I'd be more inclinde to buy a 'teg like many others have suggested. You'll have luxuary of a/c, power windows/mirrors, 5 lug, recaros, no sound deadening to remove etc.
Too many pros to ignore!

Yep, sold my ek with b18c7 for around $13k, lots of stuff with it as well, better off saving the extra and getting dc2r

WTF is this for real??
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...s=22&silo=1011
isnt that like really cheap O.O
naturally i finished my set.
-
^^ DC5Rs are about that price nows, and prices will only ever go down.
-
yes its cheap... something must be up for that price... never seen that price for a dc5.. unless he needs urgent money..
but regarding your ek... as i was saying.. its cheap to do an engine swap aswell... most people dont tell their insurance i did a engine swap... but its your car dude dont let any1 tell me what not to do or what to do..
if i was in your position i would use the ek as a daily for now save the money and buy a nice car... even though im building a eg right now im doing it for the pleasure and i like doing it even though its a money pit just follow your heart and instincts...
but what ever you do always ALWAYS think of your cons first then pros and go from there.

cant be anymore true than this.
but ive narrowed it down to this: i want a bit more power than what i have currently which would last me until im off my Ps, as i will probably buy a turbocharged car once i am.
and i still want that unique factor, and considering theres only a handful of b18c eks around, a swap would be the option to go with?
naturally i finished my set.
-
it could be.. also you can always turbo your car down the track aswell..
you do b18cr swap... daily it untill your off your p's which would be 1-2 yrs.. in that time you can save 3-5k and get a very decent turbo kit
eg, AFI, BRW, FullRace, Peakboost

Get a commodore. 'You're never late in a 3.8'
Nah seriously, I'd do the B18C conversion for the love of both my car and the soul/cult feeling of the B-series.

it doesn't make sense though, because you have to declare modifications you've made on the car and obviously the engine would be the first thing on the list.
could you clarify?
thanks all, now these are all the sort of responses im after.
Just back to this for a sec. The reason insurance is cheaper is most insurance companies will insure the car for market value. So that means they'll only give you what the original car is worth. So in most cases it'll be only a few grand.
To get agreed value you either have to be with a really good insurance company (which will mean you need to be over 25), or you pay a bucketload in annual fees (where you'd probably pay the value of the car twice over before you get in an accident).

Gonna have to agree here Igor. If you absolutely love your EK keep it and do egnine swap. Otherwise save you money sell up and buy something newer with a better powerplant
(DC2R, EP3 ect.)
