    as my first car,
i really appreciate any input or suggestions you have and let me know what you think i should do.
im here to learn as much as i can!

    ok heres the story:

    1990 EF3

DOHC ZC, Lowered on king springs, EF9 midwing
bought it for $2300 earlier this year, it ran good with great geabox, it had a simota pod filter which sounded so sweet, (sold it to my bros mate)
shocks are pretty much gone tho, its done 183xxx k's

i drove it around like a manic for a couple of days and this is what happend lol
i think its from a thrown rod but im not 100% what do you think?

i damaged the front bar(currently undergoing repair) drivers side fender and corner light when i crashed into my mates fence lol

i repaired a crack in the rear bar with fiberglass (previous owner got rammed) those tail lights are off an 88' ED6

some parts of the body need a respray like roof, passenger rear quater from fuel stains.

i took a few interior parts out and swapped them into my ED6 to make it look clean,
(seats, centre console, door panels, boot carpet ect. it does look nice)
    no pic sorry

i also took the rear spoiler for for a carbon fiber look lol and the tail lights for my ED6.

other than the engine and the front damage and a bit of paint work to do its a pretty solid car that goes well A/C is great!

    Now the ED6

the D15B4 is pretty good but drivers CV joint is screwed (clikkity clak clak) and gearbox is getting worn, 3rd syncro is pretty bad,
and the brakes are shit lol,
other than that it goes well it has a 2 1/4 inch exhaust.

although it has some dents in the body like drivers door, passenger fender, bonnet.
and has a crappy tint job,
    its done 240xxx k's

What do you think i should do?
Put another DOHC ZC in the EF3 and fix the body up?
    or
    (my original plan)
swap the EF3 brakes, (rear disks woo) gearbox and CV's into the ED
spray the bumpers and bonnet and do a front end conversion on my ED6 and make it look like the EF3?

the biggest issue i have with it is finding a DOHC ZC,
is it possible to buy just the bottom end because i think my head is in good condition (need to check)
if its possible to buy it without the head how much whould it cost?
how much does a DOHC ZC cost?
and where can i buy a DOHC ZC in Melbourne?

if i can find a ZC to put in the EF3 il choose that,
but for now im leaning towards the ED because it runs and i have a most of the parts to get it on the road.

please tell me what you think i should do.
    any help is much appreciated!

    thanks.
When i first started reading your thread, i was like --->

"Wow", i said to myself - "another 4th gen enthusiast".

Then i read on and realized that in the short time you owned the rare(ish) EF you managed to blow it up and smash it. Now my face looks more like ---> and

Put a d16a8 in there, they're cheap and easy to come by and nearly 100% interchangeable with the DOHC ZC. Hopefully you can treat it better if and when it runs again.
