    Engine Mounts

    Hi,

Can anyone please enlighten me about engine mounts.

    1. What do they do?

    2. What are the effects of two broken engine mounts?

    3. Can this lead to other problems if not fixed?

    4. How long should engine mounts last before having to have them replaced?

    Thanks

    1. Hold the engine and isolate vibrations

    2. steering vibrate, car vibrate, everything vibrate

    3. Not really... however if its completely gone off, eccessive vibration will cause other parts to fail as well.... but thats the extreme case

    4. 4/5 years or maybe more, it really depend on how fussy you are with the vibrations... some people never replace them as they just live with it for like 10 years before they sell the car off. My other car overseas a Proton, I had it change around 5 years, all 4 of them with Mitsubishi mounts. They are gone now, but since my parents are using the car and they dont bother changing it as they say vibration is normal for a 11 year old car

Forums are here to seek answers. If you dont intend on replying with answers then really why waste your time with writing a reply. There are more then 65 other people who have viewed this thread and have reframed from being cynical like yourself.
