    Weird idle on start DC5R

    Hey all,

Noticed that when i start my DC5R with a cold engine, the idle wil begin around 1200rpm and slowly climb to around 2000 by itself, and will stay there til it reaches running temp. Only does it on a cold start, once it reaches running temp if i turn the engine off and then back on it is fine.

    Normal?
Wanted to Buy: Any aftermarket parts for DC5 Integra. PM me.

it's normal. Your car does that to warm up faster.

Doesn't sound normal to me, on cold start a DC5 on stock ecu should rev to about 2000rpm straight away, hold there for about 30 sec and slowly return to normal idle.

Mine idles at 800-850rpm. The operating range is listed on the underside of the bonnet.

i dont think its normal either...it should be the opposite; on cold start it should start just below 2000 then as it warms up it should drop to 1000 and after a few minutes of normal driving it should operate <1000rpm

It might be a dirty idle air control valve (IACV) which is located on the underside of the throttle body. Apparently these can get a build up of dirt on them and cause erratic idling.

Yeah this is what it does, sorry if i was unclear. Might be worth checking the IACV anyways to be sure..

Correct mate. Mine is the same... anything other then that i wouldn't be over concerned but i'd check your IACV or see your mechanic
