just contact your rta office and get them to do a vin number check for a small fee. tells you whether it has been in an accident, if it is a repairable write-off etc etc and get a top quality mechanic to look at it

VIN Number
Engine Number
Rego Number

and use this website http://www.revs.nsw.gov.au/
then you can find out...
