I have just changed to Pirelli P7s and cold mornings seem to make the wheel balance out of wack. I've never experienced this before and the retailer is (apparently) finding out from Pirelli if the cold is causing the tyre to reshape and potentially causing a "flat spot" until they warm up. Has anyone else come across this before? The wheels are balanced properly as they seem to be fine when it's warm, I'm just not sure if there's something else in the car that could cause a shake which appears identical to a poorly balanced wheel.

My car has 225/45 R17s on it. Any clues? I can see a few others have these tyres so I assume it shouldn't really be the tyres unless these particular ones are faulty.

haha- 36 pages and i still cant figure out what tyres i want. I do mainly highway k's between sydney and canberra with the occasional twistys and also the weekend cruises/spirited driving moments. Can anyone recommend a good tyre for me, keeping in mind wear etc etc. Any help would be great. cheers!

I have been very happy with a set of Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres. I 'll be buying the new Dunlop Sport MAXX TT next. I have been using 205/50R17 instead of 225/45R17 (same overall diameter) and totally eliminated tramlining. The width differnce is hardly noticeable.

I might go back to the stock 16 inch rims because I feel a new car approaching sometime within the life of a set of tyres. But I might go for the 225/50R16 size instead of the stock 205/55R16 (same overall diameter). I would expect the return of tramlining though.

Just an update on my Michelin PS3, they're awesome! Really smooth, nice direct feel and the car feels a little more planted in all conditions. I'm really satisfied with the purchase

I also noticed that the PS3's are more comfortable than RE040s, awesome in the wet too.

bought a set of PS3 225 45 17 for $238 each at JaxQuickFit Haberfield. they've got thick sidewall, good rim protection!

apparently they're made in Thailand though..

Nah i dont experience that. I got my tyres i think 3 months back. Have never experienced what ur saying. COuld be faulty i guess, or perhaps an issue with the rim?
